Building Innovation is our new focus for this year's International Business Program which will delve into export business and investment opportunities at Construct Canada, PM Expo, HomeBuilder & Renovator Expo, DesignTrends and Concrete Canada.  Meet international buyers, decision-makers and Canadian Trade Commissioners from countries from around the world during the Show.

The International Business Program has been jointly organized for the benefit of Canadian firms by Foreign Affairs & International Trade Canada, and Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Innovation, with the assistance of the City of Toronto and Canadian Construction Association.

International Business Centre:
A Meeting Place for International Trade Activities

The International Business Centre is a resource centre and meeting place for international trade and activity to serve all your informational needs at the Show.

The centre will provide a meeting place for International visitors by providing ongoing information, staff resources and a comfortable space for informal business meetings.  The centre will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28 to Thursday, November 29 and on Friday, November 30 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on the 700 Level of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre South Building.

Canadian Companies Interested in Export

Whether an active Canadian exporter or new to export, don’t miss this year’s program. We shall introduce a new series of Building Innovation presentations in the International Business Centre on Wednesday, November 28 that will address exporting issues and solutions even for the most seasoned exporters.

The International Business Program for Canadian companies interested in export will be held on Wednesday, November 28.

The program will start with a morning short presentation series focusing on Building Innovation in the International Business Centre. Your International Business Registration for the session #S104 will include a networking luncheon where you can meet other participants in a relaxed atmosphere. And in the afternoon, concentrate your efforts in the intensive export cafe where you can network with visiting international guests and government officials. On Thursday and Friday, continue your meetings in the International Business Centre with both Canadian Export specialists and International Visitors from around the world.

Where are the latest Building Innovation opportunities and developments for Canadian companies? This presentation series will delve in the latest international market information for construction and infrastructure opportunities for Canadian companies. The speakers will address issues such as the opportunities in Green Building Innovations, Financial Building Innovations, Construction Building Innovations, and more.

Canadian Construction Building Innovations
The construction sector in North America is seeing cross-overs with the technology sector in many areas. Some of these areas include Business Information Modelling, Costing Modelling, Supply Chain, and general communications. As the construction educational leader in Canada, George Brown College must ensure that it is at the forefront of all of these trends so that it can ensure its graduates have the skills to be successful and move the industry forward as a whole. The college achieves this goal through all forms of close cooperation with the industry, including advisory, teaching and lecturing, research, and many other types of interactions help. This presentation will reveal some of the technologies that have been developed in cooperation with industry stakeholders and how we are working to ensure better outcomes.

Finance Innovation: Market Growth and Opportunities in Russia
For many years, CMHC International focused on Russia as a strategic export market for Canadian housing companies, including working with the Russian government to harmonize Russian building codes and regulations for low-rise residential wood frame construction with those of Canada.  Increasing numbers of low rise North American style suburbs are now popping up around Russia.  Most recently, CMHC engaged LAC & Associates to complete a detailed study on how the Russian financial systems works with respect to construction and mortgage financing. The speaker will focus on the Russian housing market with respect to construction and mortgage financing and the manner in which Canadian companies should work with developers, banks, insurance companies, and mortgage brokers in Russia, in order to structure a comprehensive financing package for both the construction phase of any development project and for potential Russian buyers of completed properties.  The presentation will address some of the key differences in this area between Canada and Russia.
